Machine Shop Manager
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Machining Manager to lead our machining department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining processes and management, with the ability to oversee production operations, ensure quality standards, and drive continuous improvement. This role requires a hands-on approach, as well as the ability to mentor and develop team members.
Duties
Oversee daily operations of the machining department, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules.
Manage and coordinate the activities of machinists, ensuring they are trained in proper techniques and safety protocols.
Review and confirm production routers, programs, fixtures and tooling
Monitor production quality and troubleshoot issues related to machining processes and equipment.
Ensure all production equipment, tooling and shop supplies are maintained, organized and available for shop floor personnel.
Collaborate with Scheduling, Quality Control and Programming to identify and correct any quality, programming and productivity issues to optimize manufacturing.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the team.
Qualifications
Proven leadership experience in a machining environment with a strong understanding of machining principles and practices.
Familiar with machining best practices and automation, including live tooling, horizontal milling, pallet pool systems, multi-axis machining and lights out production.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to recruit, motivate and develop team members.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Solution oriented
Effective communication skills to lead direct reports and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-task environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
